This interesting and unusual treasure map extends from Chesapeake and Delaware bays south to Okefenokee Swamp and inland as far as western Kentucky, Tennessee and Mississippi. It contains text describing various hidden treasures where numerous X's mark the spot. A few of the treasures featured on this map include those of Sir Henry Morgan, Blackbeard, and the Spanish conquistadors. Also noted is the Reed Nugget in North Carolina, which weighed an astonishing 17 pounds. Copious illustrations supplement the text including images of pirates, Indians, settlers, wildlife, and several ships in the Atlantic Ocean. Issued “Compliments of your Sinclair Dealer” (Sinclair Oil Corporation) at lower left. We found only two past sales records for this map (one at Old World Auctions) and one institutional holding (Library of Congress).
