This information-packed map was created by the National Highways Association, an early and effective advocate for the nation's highway system. It presents the evolving highway network with a legend identifying "park to park highways," transcontinental highways, Automobile Club of America "Associated Tours" roads, and other highways. Shaded areas further indicate Indian Reservations, National Forests, National Irrigation Projects, and National Parks and Monuments. A second key at lower left lists 42 different highways and trails listed on the map. Various arguments and slogans for government-backed roads surround the map in bold lettering including: "National Highways built and forever maintained by the National Government is the only way to get Good Roads Everywhere"; and "250,000 Miles of National Highways built and forever maintained by the United States government will relieve the State, County, Town or Township of present road costs." Decorated by various emblems and logos of the Association and Automobile Club as well as a highway marker for the Lincoln Highway at bottom.

Condition: B+

Issued folding with an archivally fold separation that extends 2" into the image at left, a tiny hole along the bottom border, and some pencil notations along the lower left border. There are pinholes in the corners and some minor edge chips/tears confined to the blank margins. An excellent example overall considering the map's size and fragile paper.
