This very readable biography by Martha Coleman Bray follows the life of Joseph Nicollet, an important French explorer of the area between the Missouri and upper Mississippi rivers. The volume features 13 in-text illustrations and two maps at the rear of the volume, including a small map of Nicollet's expeditions (1836-1839) and a facsimile of Nicollet's large Hydrographical Basin of the Upper Mississippi River.
