This well-preserved leaflet coded "6-J-2" was produced by the Psychological Warfare Branch of the U.S. Army. It was dropped by U.S. forces on Japanese troops on Luzon (Philippines). The front of the leaflet includes instructions (in English) to American soldiers that "this leaflet guarantees humane treatment to any Japanese desiring to cease resistance." Below the text is an image of Japanese detainees sharing what appears to be a pack of cigarettes.

The back of the leaflet contains Japanese text and is accompanied by an additional page with the official English translation. A portion of this text is shown below (see images for complete text):

"You have fought bravely without the aid of your navy and air force and while suffering from a shortage of food. Fate was against you, however, and you have come to the final stage."

"Your comrades, already under American protection, have recovered their health and are enjoying communal life."
