A lovely lot of engravings of ships, engraved by Benard.
A. Marine Pl. XII. Two fishing boats.
B. Pl. XIII. The top image shows a Dutch hourque (or houcre) under full sail and nicely heeled-over. Manned by two sailors, the boat was designed to navigate the canals. The second is a side view of a fine yacht with nice rigging, side-board, and paneled raised stern.
C. Pl. XIV. Two fishing boats. The top image is a side view of the Dutch boat "Cague" with side-board, two masts and huge rudder. The second is a nice quartering bow view of the same boat.
D. Marine, Batiment Appelle Fluste - Pl. XV. Copper engraved view of a warship with a diagram beneath depicting how the winds affect the sails.
