This well-preserved leaflet coded "12-J-1" was produced by the Psychological Warfare Branch of the U.S. Army. It was dropped by U.S. forces on "Japanese troops anywhere." The illustration on the front of the leaflet shows an American plane dropping bombs and destroying the oil pipeline between Borneo and Japan. A small circular inset at bottom shows a Japanese pilot refueling his plane with only a drop left.

The back of the leaflet contains Japanese text and is accompanied by an additional page with the official English translation. A portion of this text is shown below (see images for complete text):

"Because of America's advancing attacks in the Philippines, Japan cannot help being hard-hit in the matter of oil supply. The supply lines which tie together Japan and the South Pacific are being cut."

"When your wild eagles (Japanese aircraft) do not deliver any counter-blows against the relentless bombing by the Allied forces, may it not be that they are concerned with conserving oil?"
