This is a later derivative of Sanson's map that was first issued in 1656. It covers all of Africa, the Arabian Peninsula, the Canary and Cape Verde Islands, and Madagascar. The Nile originates in two, spurious large lakes just north of the fictional Mont de la Lune. The title is enclosed in a wreath-style cartouche. Marked "Tom. 2. Pag. 1." at top right. This map was likely published in Samuel von Pufendorf's Introduction a L’Histoire Generale et Politique de L’Univers, which was published by Antoine-Augustin Bruzen de la Martiniere and printed by Zacherie Chatelain.
