This is a detailed rendering of the Battle of Prague that occurred on May 6, 1757. This battle was part of the Third Silesian War (a theater of the Seven Years War), fought between the kingdoms of Prussia and Austria over control of Silesia (southwest Poland). The map, with south oriented to the top, shows troop positions, movements, commander names, intriciate topography, and a detailed key at bottom. Although King Frederick's Prussian army was successful in pushing back Prince Charles' Austrian army, he ultimately determined that his losses (14,000 men) were too high to mount a direct attack on Prague. Drawn by a Prussian engineer and engraved by Johann David Schleuen.
