This vintage souvenir handkerchief presents a pictorial map of central Los Angeles in the mid 1930s and commemorates its founding in 1781 as "El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Angeles." The map is oriented with north to the top right and shows the region between Beverly Hills, Union Station, and the LA Memorial Coliseum. Los Angeles Junior College is located, which changed its name to Los Angeles City College in 1938, which helps date the map. Numerous other locations are identified with ribbon banners, including the Shrine Auditorium, Elysian Park, Belmont High School, the Biltmore Hotel, and City Hall. The locations of "small homes" vs. "large homes" vs. "mansions" are also noted. A charming and unique piece of ephemera that is rarely found on the market.
