This exquisite frontispiece appeared in the theologian Thomas Stackhouse's two-volume biblical history. It shows Adam and Eve surrounded by animals in the Garden of Eden, with the serpent slithering forward between Adam and Eve. Angels and putti overlook the scene and present a series of diagrams showing the six days of creation. The dedication at the bottom is for Edmund Gibson, Bishop of London.
