A. A Pictorial Map of Southern California and Adjacent Areas, by the Automobile Club of Southern California, circa 1969 (35.1 x 23.5"). This colorful pictorial map of Southern California was created by George W. Hayes in the Map Drafting Department of the Automobile Club of Southern California. Details include highways, interstates, towns and cities, pictorial topography and land type. The map locates 75 places of interest with numbered illustrations and corresponding list on verso. Additional illustrations around the border include the Golden Gate Bridge, Lake Tahoe, Yosemite Valley, Chinese Theater, and Palomar Observatory. Related text and illustrations on verso. Self-folding. Reference: Rumsey #8137. Condition: A clean and colorful example, issued folding. There are a few tiny holes along a fold at lower right only visible when held to light. (A)

B. Ride the Roads to Romance Along the Golden Coast and Thru the Sunshine Empire of Southern California, by Claude G. Putnam, dated 1963 (33.9 x 21.3"). This very colorful bird's-eye view of Southern California is drawn in the style of Jo Mora. The map covers the counties of San Bernardino, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Diego, and Imperial. It shows missions, places of interest, and historically significant events in the region. Features an attractive border with various vignettes. On the verso is a highway map of southern California and numerous illustrations of local attractions. The map was drawn by Claude G. Putnam and self-folds into a 4 x 9" brochure. The Roads to Romance series ran from the 1940's to 1960's to promote tourism in Southern California. Condition: A fine example, issued folding. (A+)
