This oblong atlas is complete with 50 single-page maps, consisting of 35 modern and 15 ancient maps. It includes 2 maps of the world, the continents, 2 of France, and an attractive comparative rivers & mountains plate. Each map has fancy titling and surrounded by a decorative border. The map of the United States shows a large New Mexico Territory encompassing the panhandle of Texas, a large Utah Territory, and Oregon Territory extending to the Continental Divide. To the east of Oregon are the large Northwest, Indian, and Minnesota territories. Hardbound in quarter leather over marbled boards with title label on the front cover.
Maps are very good with light toning and some occasional foxing. Title page and table of contents are foxed and both have a vertical crease. Hinges have been reinforced with binder's tape and there are new endpapers. Covers are worn primarily along the edges.
