This dynamic map by Gerald Leake gives a detailed bird's-eye view of Key West showing and naming streets. Nineteen locations on the map are numbered and correspond to the vignettes surrounding the map, including the aquarium, the naval base, Truman beach, and the Martello tower. The decorative border includes images of seahorses, shells, and fish.

Gerald Leake (1885-1975) was born in British and studied painting and illustration at the Royal Academy in London before immigrating to the United States in 1915. Although he spent most of his career in New York, he wintered in Key West, where he taught art classes. He was a member of the American National Academy, Society of Illustrators, and the Royal Society of Artists, and was commissioned to create advertising and posters by the US Navy, Coca-Cola, and the American Tobacco Company.

This map is quite rare as we were not able to find any other examples in WorldCat or listed for sale in the last 30 years.
