A beautifully engraved chart of the Azores based on Luis Teixeira's cartographic work with three ornate title cartouches and a title banner at top center. The sea is fully engraved in stipple and features a sea monster and sailing ships. Latin text on verso, published in 1592.

Condition: A+

A sharp impression on a bright sheet with the horn coat of arms watermark commonly found on Ortelius maps. Attractive modern coloring with gilt highlights.
