A handsome, matched pair of large maps which together cover the whole of Portugal. They are filled with engraved detail of topography and cities with the fortifications at Lisbon prominently shown. The northern portion details the area from the Mino River south to the coastal town of Peniche, near the Berlengas Islands. The southern portion starts with the province of Estremadura, down the coast to Lisbon and ending with Cape St. Vincent and Cape de St. Marie. Each map stands on its own and is graced with an elegantly designed title cartouche and scale of miles.
