Speed's elaborate map of Sussex features a small bird's-eye plan of Chichester and a vignette battle scene. The map is handsomely embellished with the Royal Coat of Arms, the title appearing on the pages of a book, and several strapwork cartouches at bottom encompassing the distance scale, a brief history of the county, and coats of arms of important families. The British Sea is filled with ships and sea monsters. English text on verso with a list of towns and additional information on the county. Engraved by Jodocus Hondius and published by Thomas Bassett and Richard Chiswell circa 1676.

A toned sheet with a fleur-de-lis watermark, an archivally repaired tear in the bottom margin, and remnants of of framing tape along the top edge of the sheet on verso.
