This petite and apparently scarce volume was written by Lucy Byrd Mock and serves as a "Primer on Puget Sound" covering the region's "past, present and future." It features two small maps. At the front is a view of the Puget Sound (9.1 x 6.3"), extending from the Columbia River north to Vancouver Island and inland to the cities of Seattle, Bellingham, and Vancouver. Bound at the rear is a map of the Pacific Coast (9.4 x 4.8") extending from Seattle north to Kodiak, Alaska, demonstrating the "inside passage" where the water is "so quiet that seasickness is unknown." The 136 pages of text are profusely illustrated. Paper wrappers are missing.

Lucy Byrd Mock was an author, poet, editor and publisher known as the first woman to design a golf course. After playing golf in Great Britain as a teenager in the 1890s, on her return she developed the first golf course in her native Arkansas. For her biography, click here.
