This small English atlas contains 28 double-page maps and 1 folding map of the Ancient World based upon the Greek and Latin Classics. It shows the "Several Kingdoms and Provinces: Wherein the Chief Places, Mention'd in Homer, Virgil, Ovid, Lucan, Eutropius...and many other Ancient Authors are describ'd." A few of the maps featured in the volume include The Seat of the Trojan War, the folding Antient Greece and the Adjacent Islands, The Persian Empire, and The Expedition of Alexander the Great. 12mo., rebound in quarter leather over marbled boards. Third Edition.

Condition: A

The maps are very good to mostly near fine with occasional light offsetting and toning, a few spots of foxing, and minor soiling. The one exception is the map "Scriptural Geography Containing the Places Mentioned in the Old and New Testaments" (#25) that has been trimmed at top and bottom left with minor loss of border (B). Modern binding is near fine.
