A fine and complete example of this beautiful and desirable miniature atlas by Louis Alexandre Du Caille, published by Christophe Ballard. The atlas includes a title page, frontispiece, list of maps, and 26 double-page maps. The maps were created by Giovanni Antonio Battista Rizzi Zannoni, which he reduced from contemporary sources, and engraved by Durand, Burgoin, E. Dussy, F. Desbruslins, and Le Roy le jeune. The maps cover the world in two separate hemisphere maps, the five continents, and 19 maps of countries in Europe. A lovely atlas with an attractive contemporary binding in brown leather covers with gilt tooling and floral device; raised bands and gilt titling on spine; gilt end papers and edges. A rare find for the miniature atlas collector.
