A. I. S. Laurentij, by Benjamin Wright, from Discours of Voyages into Ye Easte & West Indies, circa 1598 (5.0 x 3.5"). This uncommon small map of Madagascar was originally drawn by Benjamin Wright for Langenes' Tabularum Contractarum. This edition is from the rare English edition of Van Linschoten's "Discours of Voyages into Ye Easte & West Indies." The map shows detail of towns, surrounding islands and shoals. The interior is largely filled with mountains. North is oriented to the left. On a full sheet (7 x 11") with English text describing the island.

B. Die Insul Madagascar..., by by Mueller/Bodenehr, from Kurtbuendige Abbild-und Vorstellung der Gantzen Welt, published 1702 (3.1 x 2.6"). A tiny map of Madagascar, the surrounding islands including Reunion and Mauritius, and the southeastern coast of mainland Africa. German text below the image.
