This manuscript survey map is credited to Gilbert Martin and was made at the request of David Montross on February 16th, 1796. It depicts the neighboring farms of "Jacob Badows" and "Joseph Hyatts," likely in the vicinity of New Orleans, on Bayou Jean Lafitte. The simple composition is complemented by a nice compass rose at right.

Issued folding on a sheet with a "J. Whatman" watermark. There are a few small tears along the folds and several dampstains.
