This bird's-eye view of Washington was drawn from a point immediately west of the White House and its neighboring federal buildings. The view shows the old Navy and War Department buildings before they were replaced. Fourteen references below lower border identify these and other buildings. On a bifolium that includes another view: "Landing Arms for the Patriot Forces on the Coast of Cuba." From the March 13, 1869 issue of Harper's Weekly.
