This lot features two maps of the eastern United States by Thomas Tegg and published in London:

A. United States, dated 1828, black & white (10.3 x 8.4"). A densely engraved map extending to James Peak and High Peak in the Rocky Mountains. Development extends as far west as Missouri, with a large planned Western States to its northwest. The interior is filled with rivers, forts, and numerous Indian villages. Condition: Light offsetting with some minor foxing. (B+) B. United States, circa 1846, hand color (10.2 x 8.8"). This updated version shows Iowa and Wisconsin territories above Missouri with Western States occupying the Great Plains. To the south of the Red River is the new "State of Texas." Condition: Contemporary color with a hint of color offsetting. (A)
