Taschen directed and produced this fabulous reprint of Johann Blaeu's Atlas Maior, "the cartographical masterpiece of the Baroque." It is based on the hand-colored copy with gilt highlights held by Osterreichische Nationalbibliothek in Vienna. In addition to selected original text by Blaeu, each map is accompanied by new contextualizing information written by Peter van der Krogt. 415 pages. Hardbound with illustrated cover and dust jacket.
