This rare map of ancient Greece depicts the region at the time of Agamemnon, Helen of Troy and Homer. The map extends to show western Turkey, but without any detail. Embellished with an elaborate title cartouche symbolizing the wars in the region, with a vignette of a seaside town and galleons below. Engraved by Ludovicus (Louis) Cordier.

References: Pastoureau, SANSON V B [167].

Condition: A

A sharp impression with contemporary outline color in the map and later color in the cartouche, on a bright sheet with a large coat of arms watermark. There is a hint of toning and offsetting along the centerfold and some soiling along the edges of the sheet.
