This charming map of the continent presents a great deal of information in its small format and is a close copy of Jacques Chiquet's map published in 1719. A large, mythical lake Xaraies is depicted centrally. There is a notation in the Atlantic regarding Magellan's discovery and another note in the Pacific (Mer du Sud) explaining how the ocean was named for its calm and tranquil waters.
