This is plate CCXI from Jost Amman's encyclopedic book of costumes, Habitus Praecipuorum Populorum, tam Virorum quam Foeminarum Dingulari Arte Depicti, published by Hans Weigel. The book included over 200 woodcut costume plates showing people from around the world. This plate shows a Greek woman in Constantinople and originally included letterpress text below the image, which has been removed from this example.

Condition: B+

An old colored example that has been trimmed (with loss of text below the image) and pasted onto another sheet. There is a 3" tear in the image at bottom that has been archivally repaired, and several minor creases and tiny tears in the sheet. There is light soiling and foxing, mostly on the backing sheet.
