This scarce map of the continent comes from an edition of the first general atlas published in Scotland. It extends to include New Holland (Australia), which is depicted with Van Diemens Land (Tasmania) attached to the rest of the island. The Sea of Japan is labeled the Gulf of Corea. Central Asia is comprised of Western and Eastern Tartary and Tibet. Japan is misshapen. Engraved by Gavin & Son.
