"Graeciae Antiquae Tabulam hanc Geographicam...", Sanson/Mariette

This ancient map of Greece is filled with place names and extends to Albania and Macedonia in the north. It is adorned with numerous sailing ships, sea monsters, and a strapwork title cartouche flanked by mermaids, one of whom holds an armillary sphere. Condition: A

A sharp impression with contemporary outline color in the map and later color in the cartouche, on a bright sheet with a large coat of arms watermark. There is a professionally repaired centerfold separation at bottom and a hint of toning along the centerfold and edges of the sheet.
