This uncommon and elegantly engraved map locates synods and ecumenical councils in Western Europe and Italy. It covers France and portions of England, Wales, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and more. Corsica and Sardinia are both identified. There are plenty of ancient place names and fine topographical detail. The decorative title cartouche at top right shows religious leaders and their followers.

Condition: A

A dark impression on a bright sheet of paper with a coat of arms watermark, contemporary outline color in the map with later color in the cartouche. There are several small worm holes in the image and a hint of toning along the centerfold.
