This attractive book published by Peterson & Carwile in Deadwood illustrates the region's remarkable growth and development over the previous 30 years. There are a total of 61 unnumbered plates featuring bird's-eye views of Deadwood, Central City and Lead City. Also included are the famous Homestake Mine, other mining operations, Custer's Last Stand, Calamity Jane, and a photo of two Indians unfortunately described as “Uncle Sam’s Pets.” Oblong octavo, hardbound in brown cloth with gilt title on the front cover.

Contents are clean and bright with occasional minor soiling. Covers are lightly worn with binder's tape reinforcement on the spine.
