This historical map illustrates the region involved in the conquest of Cyrus the Great (558-528 BC), the founder of the Persian Empire under the Achaemenid dynasty. It covers all of Asia Minor through to Armenia and Babylon. Two superb cartouches adorn the map. Engraved by J. Somer.

Condition: A

A dark impression with contemporary outline color in the map and later color in the cartouches, on a bright sheet with the watermarks of a large coat of arms and the symbol for the Society of Jesus. There is faint toning and offsetting along the centerfold, and one small worm hole in the Mediterranean.
