This handsome map shows the peninsula of Achaea, an important region in Greek history. The map is based on the work of Sir George Wheeler, an amateur botanist who traveled extensively in Greece and published an account of his experience, A Journey into Greece. At top right a Greek woman points to the legend, while several Greek men adorn the title cartouche.

References: Zacharakis #1083.

Condition: B+

A dark impression with full contemporary color on a bright sheet with a heart-shaped key watermark, some faint staining, minor soiling, and a tiny pair of wormtracks in an unengraved area at bottom. There is a short centerfold separation that just enters into the map image at bottom.
