This fascinating propaganda map was issued by the War Resisters League to show the pervasiveness of military training and affiliations in high schools and colleges throughout the United States. The War Resisters League, founded in 1923, is a secular, pacifist organization in the United States dedicated to campaigning against war and military interventions. The map focuses on Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) groups, which are listed in detail on the verso with a key identifying Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps groups. The verso lists 1362 high schools and 466 colleges that offer ROTC programs, with information current as of 1984. Research by Ed Hedemann and design by Rick Bickhart.
