Small map of the strategic passage in the Upper Lakes system, which was so important to the colonial fur trade. Shows Lake Superior and Huron connected by the Straits of Mackinac and depicts numerous islands, forts, and missions. Adorned with a nice compass rose. Engraved by Desbruslins.

A dark impression, issued folding with light offsetting and two tiny tears at left that just pass the neatline and have been closed on verso with archival tape.
