A. Reconnaissance of New River and Bar North Carolina..., from Report of the Superintendent of the United States Coast Survey..., dated 1852 (13.6 x 16.8"). This detailed chart depicts Stump Sound and the New River inlet in North Carolina. It includes soundings, bottom types, and notes on navigating the river and the tides. Condition: Issued folding with faint dampstaining and a few short splits along the vertical fold that have been closed on verso with archival materials. A binding trim at bottom left has been replaced with old paper.

B. Oregon Inlet N. Carolina, dated 1862 (17.4 x 15.2"). This informative Coast Survey chart features good detail of the Oregon Inlet linking Pamlico Sound and the Atlantic Ocean. The waters are filled with soundings and other navigational information. Condition: Issued folding with some archivally repaired fold separations and a light dampstain at top.
