This handsome map extends from the Mediterranean to the Persian Gulf, including parts of Turkey and Cyprus. The map is filled with ancient place names, political boundaries, mountains, and the river systems in the area. Engraved by Jean Sommer. Dated 1651 but published in 1667 by Pierre Mariette.
A sharp impression with contemporary outline color and later color in the cartouche, on a bright sheet with a large coat of arms watermark. There are a couple of printer's creases adjacent to the centerfold, as well as a hint of toning along the edges of the sheet.
