This uncommon school history book was authored by Samuel Griswold Goodrich under the pseudonym Peter Parley. The complete volume includes 19 single-page maps engraved by G.W. Boynton including individual states in the Northeast and regional maps of the Mid-Atlantic, Middle States, Southern States, and Western States. Also represented are Mexico, North America, South America, and the Eastern and Western Hemispheres. Of particular interest is the map of the United States that features Oregon, Utah, and New Mexico territories in their largest configurations, as well as the map of Mexico, Texas, Guatimala & West Indies which prominently features the Independent Republic of Texas. 212 pages. 12mo, hardbound in illustrated paper covers with leather spine.
Maps and text are very good with occasional light toning and foxing. Covers have some wear and are a bit warped and the corners are bumped.
