This uncommon small map of Crete is nicely engraved with a flourishing, banner-style cartouche held aloft by the winged lion of St. Mark brandishing a sword -- the symbol of the Venetian government that ruled Crete prior to the takeover by the Turkish Empire.

Condition: B+

A dark impression with light soiling, issued folding and now flattened with professional repairs to separations along the folds.
