"Tarrant's Key & Guide to Dallas",

This detailed map of Dallas shows the street grid pattern of the city with a legend identifying streetcar lines, railroads and piked (toll) roads. Includes a key to 54 points of interest and an inset map of the "Downtown District." Verso contains an index to streets, parks, hospitals, etc. R.W. Tarrant was “office engineer” of the Dallas Railway Company. He produced a guide to Dallas for use by the railway employees, as noted in an issue of the Electric Railway Journal of 1921. This is apparently the commercial version with a price of 35 cents and distributed by O.W. Griffin. The inside cover text calls it “the latest and most up to date and official pocket Street Guide to Dallas ever published.” A rare item with only one past sales record in the last 30 years and two institutional examples located on OCLC (both at Baylor).

Issued folding with a few minor fold separations along the sheet edges that have been closed on verso with archival tape. There are additional tiny splits at the fold junctions with minute loss of image. Wrappers are lightly worn.
