Two early San Antonio guides:

A. [Untitled - Map of San Antonio Schools] [in] Clarke's Street Guide and General Information for Tourists - San Antonio, Texas and Suburbs, by William P. Clarke, published 1925 (6.0 x 8.0"). This 152-page street guide includes a small folding map at the rear locating the various types of schools within the city limits including "Negro schools." The guide also lists "colored" schools and churches separately. Title page includes a small illustration of the Alamo. 16mo, hardbound in faux leather with gilt stamped name on front cover. There are no past sales records or institutional examples listed on OCLC. Condition: Contents are near fine with pleasant light toning. Covers have minor wear. (A)

B. Index Street Map of San Antonio [on verso] Route Map of San Antonio Showing Places of Amusement and Points of Historical Interest Etc., by Grande Courts, circa 1935 (14.4 x 15.1"). A highly detailed street map of San Antonio with concentric circles radiating out from downtown. Surrounded by a detailed street index with heading “Grande Courts – America’s Finest Guest Quarters.” Verso has an illustration of the Alamo, extensive descriptions of places of interest, a small “Route Map of San Antonio,” and a large illustration of the Grande Courts in San Antonio. Grande Courts was an early national hotel franchise in the 1920’s and 1930’s offering “…a first class Tourist Apartment Hotel, nice, and refined enough to meet the requirements of those accustomed to luxurious accommodations, and …within the reach of those of moderate means.” Self-folding. No past sales records and only one example located on OCLC. Condition: On a clean bright sheet with one route on the map colored in pencil. There is one small strip of blank margin trimmed away at bottom right, not impacting the image. (B+)
