A handsome map of the modern Netherlands, fully engraved with towns, political boundaries, mountains, marshes, and the extensive river system in the region. The elaborate title cartouche is surrounded by mythical figures, including Mercury, Neptune, and Minerva. At the base of the title cartouche is an Asian merchant, symbolizing the lucrative Dutch trade in the East Indies, which are depicted in an inset below the title. A fleet of Dutch galleons are illustrated at top. The distance scale supports a small inset showing the area around Maastricht.
