A nice example of Ortelius' first map of Silesia. It is based on a map by the Silesien cartographer Martin Helweg in 1561, and is beautifully engraved with large forests, mountain ranges, and a strapwork title cartouche and coat of arms. Wroclaw (Breslaw) is located near the center of the map and Krakow is at bottom right. French text on verso.

References: Van den Broecke #102.

Condition: B+

A crisp impression with gilt highlights on a bright sheet with a bunch of grapes watermark. There are professional repairs along the centerfold to a long separation, several short tears, and a small hole with minute loss of image. There is marginal soiling and a number of small chips and tears along the edges of the sheet, well away from the image.
