This pair of decorative miniatures comes from Mallet's renowned Description de l'Univers. The first engraving is a map of the islands of Cuba and Jamaica with Florida and the Bahamas appearing on the horizon. It is embellished by two sea battles raging in the Caribbean. The second engraving Havana guarded by fortifications along the bay. Warring ships are shown in the foreground. Both feature French text on verso.

Condition: A

Both are crisp impressions. The Cuba and Jamaica map has light toning in the margins.
