The map also identifies the proposed route of the Union Pacific Railroad, the Overland Mail Route, Hastings Road, and Captain Simpson's Route. A legend at bottom further identifies gold, iron, and lead deposits. Signed in the plate by Commissioner Joseph S. Wilson.
