A. The Lowery Collection - A Descriptive List of Maps of the Spanish Possessions Within the Present Limits of the United States, 1502-1820, by Woodbury Lowery, published 1912, (7.3 x 10.3"). This extensive bibliography was created from Woodbury Lowery's collection of maps of the early Spanish settlements in the United States along with his own manuscript, "A Preliminary List of Maps of the Spanish Possessions Within the Present Limits of the United States." Lowery left these materials to the Library of Congress upon his death in 1906. His manuscript describes 750 maps, 306 from his own collection, 206 in the map division of the Library of Congress, and 184 from other sources. 567 pages, 8vo. Hardbound in original red cloth with gilt title on spine. Condition: Contents are very good with just a sliver of damp staining along the top edge of the opening pages. The covers are lightly stained and have minor wear, and the spine is slightly sunned. (B+)

B. Catalogue and Index of the Publications of the Hayden, King, Powell, and Wheeler Surveys..., by L.F. Schmeckebier, published 1904, (6.0 x 9.4"). This is the original edition published in Washington, D.C., in 1904. It is a catalogue and index designed to help "students, investigators, and librarians" navigate the "storehouse of geographic, geologic, ethnologic, and archaeologic information concerning the western portion of the United States" contained within the reports of Hayden, King, Powell, and Wheeler. 208 pp. Octavo, modern faux-leather covers with gilt title on front cover. Condition: Text block is coming loose from covers. (B)
