These two complete school atlases are bound into one volume. Schul-Atlas uber alle Theile der Erde, was published in 1845, and is based on Stieler's Hand-Atlas. It contains 27 single-page maps, including two of the stars and planets, two of the world, fourteen of Europe and Russia, four of Asia, one of Africa, and four of the Americas. Both the North America and United States maps show Mexico encompassing the majority of the Southwest and California, Texas as an independent Republic, and the Oregon Boundary dispute. The United States map also outlines the states and districts, with most of the land west of the Mississippi identified as Indian Territories. The other atlas in the volume, Orbis Terrarum Antiquus, published in 1842, contains 15 single-page maps of the Ancient World based on maps by D'Anville, Mannert, Ukert, Reichard, Kruse, Wilhelm and others. It also includes 14 pages of text (4 of which are bound out of order) containing a brief synopsis of ancient geography. Oblong Quarto, bound in quarter calf with thick mottled paper boards.

Condition: B+

The maps are in very good (B+) to near fine condition (A), in contemporary color with occasional toning and soiling. The map of Denmark and the map of the Balkans each have a clean tear along the plate mark that is far from map image. The map of Asia has several stains. There is a damp stain at top of the first three pages, including one of the title pages. The covers are very worn and starting, and the spine is becoming detached with part already missing.
