This finely engraved copperplate map of the Roman Empire. It includes Europe, Northern Africa, and the Near and Middle East. The map is embellished with ships and sea monsters in the Atlantic and a fine title cartouche featuring allegorical figures, ships, and a figurehead. Engraved by Melchior Tavernier. This edition is dated 1637 with the address of Pierre Mariette at Rue St. Iacques a l'Esperance.
