This lovely view of Lower Manhattan was issued as a supplement to the November 19, 1870 issue of Harper's Weekly. It prominently features an early rendering of the iconic Brooklyn Bridge, the world’s longest bridge at the time, as its construction began. The hustle and bustle of the streets is captured in the foreground, while numerous ships occupy the East River. Drawn by Theodore Davis.
