This lot contains three General Land Office maps of the Hawaiian Islands over an eleven year period:

A. Map of The Territory of Hawaii, by I.P. Berthrong, dated 1918 (32.9 x 21.8"). This large and colorful map was "compiled from data on file in the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey: Hydrographic Office: Hawaiian Government Surveys, and other authentic sources under the direction of I. P. Berthrong chief of drafting division." Published under the direction of the commissioner Clay Tallman. Large inset (12.5 x 7.5") at lower left gives a wider view of the entire archipelago and notes in red the Hawaiian Islands Bird Reservation. Table gives the distances to the principle ports in the Pacific Ocean from Honolulu. Condition: A hint of toning along the folds, otherwise fine. (A)

B. Territory of Hawaii To Accompany The Annual Report Of The Governor, by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), dated 1929 (32.8 x 21.9"). An updated version of the map above with a different color scheme and a legend identifying county seats, cities and towns, lighthouses, radio stations, aviation fields, military reservations, and more. Published under the direction of commissioner C.C. Moore. Condition: Fine. (A+)

C. Territory of Hawaii To Accompany The Annual Report Of The Governor, by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), dated 1929 (32.8 x 21.9"). Another example of the 1929 map with the addition of a fascinating set of colorful printed attachments (dated 1930) tipped onto the blank parts of the map focusing on various Hawaiian features, including historical data, resources, the Hawaiian language, meaning of Hawaiian terms, holidays, imports, and net income. Condition: There are minor pencil notations in the image and pinholes confined to the blank margins. (B+)
